JOB DESCRIPTION
BUSINESS CONSULTANT
|
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
|
1. To effectively undertake activities appropriate to the assigned project role(s):
· Business Analyst
2. To review documentation, identifying errors, discrepancies and inconsistencies, challenging information, making suggestions for improvements and providing feedback as required
3. To contribute to the improvement of IT processes and procedures, standards and methods by making appropriate recommendations and assisting in implementing these.
4. To pro-actively identify and analyse problems using a structured approach and proven techniques. Problems will typically have a level of complexity and/or require long-term solutions.
5. To build a network of business and IT contacts.
6. To build and maintain a good understanding of the following, and use this on a day-to-day basis:
· Utilisoft’s business organisation, products, services and business processes
· Various system development life-cycles
· Developments within the IT industry
· Developments within the utilities sector and/or the public sector
· Utilisoft’s Business and Technology Strategies.
7. To champion the Business Systems Team.
8. To co-operate and work effectively with third party suppliers engendering team development and participation.

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
|
· Good general education ideally to degree standard
· At least 2 years experience of software development or software testing or business analysis in a commercial organisation
Or
· At least 3 years relevant business experience including at least 12 months IT project experience
· A good understanding of business practices across a number of disciplines
· Good business and data analysis skills
· Good business process modelling skills
· Good at preparing and presenting persuasive business proposals
· Understanding of risk and issue management
· Good problem solving techniques
· Good inter-personal communication skills
· Good report writing skills
· Good meeting skills
· Good presentation skills
· Good understanding of full IT lifecycle, with detailed knowledge of Requirements Analysis.
· Self motivated and able to work alone; also able to work well as part of a larger team, providing assistance and advice to less experienced staff members
· Projects a professional image
· Articulate and diplomatic
· Able to work effectively under pressure |
